2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Info

2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The flagship of Jeep's fleet, the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee is better in every way than its predecessors. Tough to believe? Believe it. This Grand Cherokee is confident, bold, and nothing short of spectacular. Though the Grand Cherokee may look luxurious (and it is), don't let it fool you into thinking it's just another SUV. This sport utility vehicle is more than capable of taking the path less traveled. Whether you're mudding in Pekin, going off road in Chillicothe, or towing your boat to the Illinois river in Peoria, this Jeep will provide the power, handling, and abilities you need to enjoy a successful adventure in Central Illinois. Take a look at what makes the new Jeep Grand Cherokee so special.

 Engine & Performance

The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee boasts a brand new Pentastar V6 3.6-liter V6 engine that puts out 290 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque, plenty of power for your Peoria travels. The Grand Cherokee earns 23 miles per gallon on the highway with the Pentastar engine. A 360 horsepower Hemi V-8 Engine will also available if you really desire some extra hauling capabilities.

Features & Technology

This vehicle is loaded with the latest technology and it comes standard on every model. FloTV, satellite TV, satellite radio, and even an internet router for access to the world wide web on the go. The Jeep Grand Cherokee also has keyless entry, trailer sway control, stability control with anti-roll, power driver's seat, fog lamps, power adjusted heated mirrors, active head restraints, a leather wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, and hill start assist. The interior contains 17 percent more cargo space, and that's with the spare tire resting snugly on the inside. The rear seats enjoy 4 more inches of legroom than in the previous Grand Cherokee, so your kids and friends won't mind riding in the back on extended excursions outside of Peoria.

Options

Choice abounds in the 2012 Grand Cherokee, and there are many options to suit any buyer's particular palette. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited model adds a CommandView dual-pane panoramic sun roof, perfect for letting in the breeze on a warm Peoria summer day or enjoying the starts at night out in the Illinois countryside. Some of the other options include premium audio, brighter door handles, larger 18-inch wheels, heated leather seats in the front and second row to keep you warm during the cold Central Illinois winters, rear park assist, rear back up camera, rain sensitive wipers, and navigation provided by Garmin. You probably won't get lost in Peoria, Morton, or Roanoke, but navigation is nice to have during an adventure with your Jeep outside of Illinois.

The Overland model represents the pinnacle of the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee family. This is everything an Illinois Grand Cherokee enthusiast desires. Inside are warm wood bezels, power tilt and telescoping steering wheel column, vented front seats, powerful and stable 20 inch aluminum wheels, instrument panel/center console armrest/doors stitched in leather, Napa leather-trimmed and heated seats, and a power liftgate.

The option of a 360 horsepower Hemi V8 engine exists as an alternative to the Pentastar V6.

Safety

Side curtain airbags are located in both the front and the rear of the Jeep, and there are front side airbags as well. This Jeep Grand Cherokee is full of other safety features, including Electronic Stability Control, Electronic Roll Mitigation, four wheel Anti-lock Brake System with rough road detection, Passive Entry/Keyless Go, four-wheel Brake Traction Control System, remote keyless entry, seat-belt pretensioners, express up and down windows for driver and the front passenger, and Trailer-Sway Control. If a rear collision occurs, the active head restraints move forward and up to protect occupant safety.

Off Road Ready

The Selec-Terrain traction control, available on Limited and Overland models, and Quadra-Lift air suspension system, available on 4x4 models only, ensure the Jeep Grand Cherokee is thoroughly prepared for life off the beaten path. The Selec-Terrain allows the driver to choose different modes for braking, powertrain, and suspension systems. These modes include Rock, Snow, Auto, Sport, and Sand/Mud. Each of these modes could come in useful with the different seasons and terrains in Peoria and Central Illinois. The Quadra Lift system has five height settings including two for off road use. A maximum of 11.1 ground clearance is possible.
